My best friend Kaitlyn is getting married next month
(and no, I can't fly home for the wedding)
((and no, I don't want to talk about it)).
I love the Save the Date she chose for me me.
She and her fiancee searched high and low through various antique shops
so that they could send each guest a unique, vintage post card
with their date stamped on the back.

(You should have heard me explaining this to my German friend here
....in German.
Pretty sure she had NO idea what I was talking about.)
The special thing about mine is...
Kaitlyn and I have been here!
We went to Titisee in the Schwarzwald summer of 2008.
So many memories from that trip...
I carry this around with me in my planner.
I showed it to a friend the other day in Poland and he said,
''They are getting married on the 3rd day of the 18th month? What?''
Yeah... the European date format is different from the American one.
I forgot to mention that when I showed him.
Oh, cultural differences...
how much entertainment you bring to our lives.

I sent you our save the date postcard from Kaitlyn, didn't I? Loved it!! So excited for her.
Hello! Just found you through Teachers Who Blog! Love your blog and think that postcard idea is fabulous!
i ALWAYS confuse myself with the dates thing...and military time...my european friends always make fun of me.
LOVE that vintage postcard idea. I am a vintage clothing and accessory store owner, that rocks!!
:-) xx Emily
By far the coolest save the date I have seen. You must mean quite a bit to them for them to do this. Sorry you can't go, that really is a big Schade about being over here
Haha, I was thinking the same about the date :D
Love the idea of the vintage postcards!
Awww that is such a cool idea! ...and the postage stamp too? Brilliant!
So great that she found such a perfect one for you!
that wedding invitation is super cool! haha indeed funny how some things we are so used to are different for others
i love that save the date! so pretty!
Patrick writes dates that way, as well, and makes those comments all the time. Must be an everywhere-but-the-US-thing.
That is the cutest idea ever!! That is a bummer that you can't go back for the wedding. I had to go back home for my bff wedding at Christmas time and it cost us a small fortune {and thats just atl-den}. Flights are expensive!
that's such a pretty little card. so. i'm a teacher to, and i have to ask how you got started teaching in europe. i really need a location/ country change, but it seems pretty tricky to find a job in europe. any suggestions? thanks so so so much.
