what makes me euphorically happy?

this, apparently.

can you tell how ecstatic i was to be moving out of my old apartment and into a new place? i mean, when emily and i went to ikea to furnish my room (the same emily of Krapfen fame), i was giddily skipping through the store. i think we spent a total of 3 hours there. for a person who has never been to ikea in the states (oklahoma really needs to get on that), this place is like paradise to me.

equally paradise-ical? the ikea food section. ikea has a food section AND a restaurant. we spent a significant amount of time in both. and then discovered a self-serve milkshake dispenser. or perhaps i should say a self-serve ''milkshake'' dispenser (i've still yet to try a milkshake in europe that does in fact taste like a true, american milkshake...did you know milkshakes originated in chicago? just another reason for me to go there one day). sadly, we threw these so-called shakes away after a few drinks... which is shocking in itself because i never throw food away.

oh, and the thing i'm throwing up in the air is a mattress. a rolled-up, super light, wrapped in plastic, throw-able mattress. what will they think of next!?

oh my god - i am officially going to follow you - i just read your FAQ page and I'm slightly envious and completely fascinated with your life!
How incredible to live in Europe....I am a Romanian immigrant living in Vancouver, WA....but I miss Europe....I lived in Romania till I was 14 and to this day I've only seen Budapest, Amsterdam and Romania...shameful.
GREAT BLOG!

Oh man, I was like that at the IKEA in Frisco, or whatever suburb of Dallas it is in. I bought a couch and a ton of other stuff. I felt so grown up!

The couch will get put together at Cuteland3.0 - coming up in a few weeks! Maybe you'll be in Oklahoma within a year so you can come visit and we can watch the BSC.

P.S. isn't it weird you have your own Luca now?
"He's been to Europe."
"He's FROM Europe."

Ikea is the best of all good things. I could spend days there! The ones in the states have $1.99 breakfast! It's the best! You have to get some chocolate and ligonberry jelly. Sooo good!

the sad thing is that I don't even have to be moving anywhere to be in that same state of euphoria. just being at ikea does that to me.

European Ikea food section = love. So good. And I meant to comment on your moving post, but I guess I didn't. So glad you are getting a good apartment that you love. Even though moving is a pain in the ass, soooo worth it :)

I got really excited about this self serve milkshake machine until you said that it was no good! I was thisclose to stopping after work for one, but I suppose now I am avoiding unnecessary calories [so I'll continue chomping on this Easter chocolate instead].

Hahahahaha! You hit the nail on the head about IKEA in Germany for sure - the first time we went I walked around there for 2 hours, then when we got to the end I couldn't believe the food section and restaurant!!! I could have easily stayed there for 5 hours if TJ wasn't rushing me along. Congrats on the new place, I can't wait to see updates and photos of your re-decs!

Hahaha. I LOVE Ikea. I went last Friday & bought plants for my husband & I. They were so cheap, but totally cheered me up. Oh how I wish we could hit up IKEA together. I'm imagining throwing mattresses in the air and riding those crazy carts down the aisles. :) :)

That's funny you mentioned Ikea because I hear Nate on 'The Nate Show' talking about that store - he gets the cutest stuff there and it's so cheap. I wondered why we don't have them here!!

Ach, Ich liebe Ikea! It's easy to become lost in there...

Thankfully, we have multiple Ikeas here in the San Francisco Bay Area. :) I really missed having one around when I lived in Alabama, and the nearest one was 2 hrs away in Atlanta.

Aren't roll up mattresses the bees knees? I adore mine (and the fact that it is called a 'Sultan Finnvik' cracks me up), so your excitement is completely understandable!

Thanks for commenting on my blog -- I really enjoy reading yours! :)

I have the same Ikea love :) I was just there this weekend and spent $100 more than I intended. They had chocolate hazelnut cookies at the checkout line too that roped me in. Holy yum.
