goodbye, spain, goodbye!

As I close out my Spain series, I want to answer two funny questions that have come my way throughout the last several posts.

Q – Why are you wearing gloves and/or a coat in every photo?
A – It was surprisingly cold in Spain that week and the boys’ flat has no heating.  They kept the   windows open the whole time, too, and ignored my subtle hints (“I’m cold.  Shut the windows.”).  Therefore, my fingerless gloves became a fashion staple of mine – watch fastened on top like so.  I may have slept in them one night.  I can't complain, though, because Sergi -- our selfless host -- put his life on hold for 5 days (missing class and work, although I doubt that was an issue for him) to graciously grant our every wish (most of which had to do with baby pinks and Dunkin Donuts, mind you).  We ended our time in Spain loving Sergio more than ever.  I would be okay if Caroline married him or something – just sayin’.  Although I don’t really think she’d be okay with that and I suppose that’s fine…whatever.

Q – After the trip from hell, how on earth did you girls make it back to Germany?
A – Shockingly well!  We made the trip back shockingly well.  The boys escorted us to the surprisingly-clean-and-not-at-all-scary Granada bus station (Roman emerged from his cave long enough to make that trip) and waited with us until we boarded and found our seats.  We then rode the creep-free bus from Granada to Alicante, taxi-ed to the airport and flew directly from Alicante to Munich, before train-ing our way back to Nuremberg.  The only dramatic part?  Caroline publicly mocking a German woman who shamelessly cut us in line at the airport.  I believe her exact words were, “Oh, hi, let me just waltz right up in my rhinestone jeans and stilettos – which are so necessary for a redeye flight at 5 in the morning – and hop right in front of you in line.  Don’t mind my offensively pink pleather jacket or my enormous wheelie suitcase!”  The woman didn’t notice, which was a shame, really.  I would’ve loved to watch sassy Caroline speaking German (it’s kind of amazing).

Anyway, goodbye Spain!  It was my 3rd trip there and by far the best.
