{st. patrick’s day 2011: salzburg, austria}
{{austrian, american, irish, american}}
***
wrong holiday, i know.
but i’m currently boycotting the 4th of july
because no one in europe wants to celebrate it with me!
(i couldn’t believe it either.)
last year, i had the best 4th of july in the history of my life on earth.
you can read about it here.
this year, i’m spending america’s independence day in poland.
i’m thinking i will make my friends watch the sandlot with me,
listen to garth brooks’ greatest hits,
and eat jiffy cornbread*.
i’ll let you know how that goes later.

*last remaining souvenir from my trip to the u.s. military base

Jenny, I've been following your blog for a couple of weeks now although I have never commented on any of your posts so far. I had to comment on this one because I really feel bad for you. Don't boycot 4th of july! I, a German girl who used to live in Colorado, usually celebrate your independence day by making S'Mores. Best way ever! You should try it :-) Happy 4th of july!

oh man, I'll celebrate with you! I'm not in the US at this very moment either and no one wants to celebrate with me! I'll bring the sparklers and fireworks :)

p.s. absolutely adore your blog and I legitimately just peed my pants reading posts about Piotr (or however you spell his name)

I celebrated by making a 'wanna-be-american' cake in red white & blue! It will never be the same as a true American's handywork. It's the icing, something that all my friends ask for when anyone goes to the states, but seems impossible to copy. Hope you had happy American times trotzdem.

Celebrating with Garth Brooks is classic, have a great 4th! (Sidenote: I celebrated Canada Day in Jamaica on July 1st this year - thanks to the resort we stayed at - so they will surely be celebrating the 4th there today too!)

haha I love it! If it makes you feel any better I am missing my family's 4th of July party back home and my in-laws were too tired to go an see fireworks (my husband is at work with the car) So it doesn't even feel like the 4th here. I can here the finale, but can't see them over these dumb georgia trees!.... ok I'll stop whining now :)
