the day i died and went to heaven.

so, europe’s great.  you know?

it’s full of rich culture and fascinating history.

and hearing/speaking languages other than english is a real treat.

and the food in europe is infinitely fresher and healthier than in america.

(i bet you know where this is going, right?)

well, the other day,

i was hanging out in dresden with some friends

and we happened upon something advertised as an ‘american diner’.

we glanced through the menu posted outside

and in a matter of 23.7 seconds,

we decided that meeting there for breakfast the following morning

was extremely vital to our general well-being/survival.

and do you want to know what kind of breakfast this diner offers?

 

an “all-you-can-eat american buffet”, which consists of:

donuts, muffins, fruit, baguettes, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs, jelly, nutella, cheese, honey, deli meats, coffee, milk, pancakes with syrup, yogurt, cereal and granola.

and it was 10 euro.

all of that for 10 euro.

!!!!???!!!!?!

i kept asking the waitress, “wait – this comes with it, too?”

or, “so…i can go back and get more now?”

i mean, these kinds of buffets are a dime a dozen in america, sure.

but in europe….different story.

also, i ate at 9:00 am and did not get hungry again until aprx. 8:00 pm.

and i don’t think that has ever happened before.

so, suffice it to say i will be eating breakfast here every morning

for the rest of my dresden life.

or, you know, a couple times a month.

it’s whatever.
