I started off the weekend by an early morning trip to the grocery store, where I bought ingredients to make "American" (blueberry) pancakes. They don't sell syrup in Europe - it just doesn't exist. I had to do some improvising so I bought a can of jar of sweet cherries and used a little bit of the juice in the batter as well as on top, with powdered sugar sprinkled on top of that. It was actually really good.

The weather was incredible all weekend; perfect for sightseeing outdoors. I had been getting kind of nostalgic about missing an Oklahoma fall. The fall weather here just wasn't cutting it for me and Oklahoma autumns are unbeatable. I have to say, though, this weekend's weather really did rival Oklahoma's. The leaves are changing and the temperatures are 60s and warm. It's funny because from day 1 in Austria (2009), I was head over heels in love. Though we got off to a somewhat rough start, I think it's safe to say....Germany is growing on me....

Walking through Nuremberg at night was so quiet and nice.
The roads were really empty and the whole town was so peaceful.
With the awesome weather, it was just an incredible atmosphere.
It really is like a fairy tale land, I think.

My internet is really slow at my apartment and I go to Starbucks in Erlangen almost daily so I can use the wifi (and meet up with my friends who live there - together, we work on lesson plans, which is more fun that it sounds). On Sunday afternoon I used the wifi to download Date Night on iTunes. I ended up watching it in Starbucks and I was laughing so hard I attracted a few stares. I really thought it was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Steve Carrell and Tina Fey - a genius pair.
That night, I made the trip to Forchheim to play cards with Emily and Gemma. We played 2 games of Spades. I am so addicted to this game; so much so that Maddie Ross once famously threatened to send me to "Spaders Anonymous" because of my addiction.
In conclusion: I am loving Bavaria. So glad I chose to live here...
The pancakes looked great!! The order at McDonalds did not look like a 'snack'!!! The raccoon/mammal story was hilarious (not for the raccoon). I loved the movie 'Date Night' too. Glad you had a great weekend. The weather here has been beautiful too. Miss you.
I want pancakes!!! I miss them so so much! Thanks for my shout out! You know how much I love Starbucks. Did you see the picture I mobile uploaded to facebook the other day with the starbucks drink? Looks like you guys had a great weekend.
Also- I love that both of our families have an entire separate freezer for the meat that our dad's hunt (or in the case of my family- also fish).
I hope it isn't the package we sent you that is causing the problems!!!!!!!!
Haha - so cute!! Pancakes are a favorite in this house! :)
those pancakes look delicious! : )
haha love the raccoon story! :)
you guys are so fancy!
besitos.
Ok, so I don't know how I got here. I was browsing through your blog, curious t learn more about your interesting European life :) and here I am, enjoying your stories of you and Pjotr. It must be great fun being together! But let me tel you the moment when I got massive goose bumps - Nuremberg! I love this town. No, i am madly in love with it. I have lived there in the past and am still dreaming of going there with my husband... This is one of the most spectacular towns in Bavaria, regardless of its Nazi past...
