and i definitely have a least favorite. but let's not talk about that....
the munich airport might be my favorite in the world - either munich or oklahoma city. the former because i associate it with (mostly) good memories; arriving in europe before beginning my study abroad in salzburg, landing there when lindsay and i returned to europe for the first time since cryfest '09 (aka end of our salzburg lives), picking my parents up there when they came to visit me for easter that one time, etc. and the latter because it's just so small and so oklahoma.
anyway, i love the munich airport. when anyone comes to visit me, i tell them to fly into munich, even though frankfurt is technically just as close. the thing is, when something is familiar to me, i stick with it (which is also why i order the same meal everywhere i go). and i kind of know the munich airport like the back of my hand (the train station, too.... just call me jason bourne).
so of course i told caroline to fly into munich. the night before she arrived, i could barely sleep from excitement. i think i slept, like, 4 hours - if that!
in order to fully comprehend the excitement, you have, have, have to read this post.

now maybe you'll understand why seeing her at the airport and then taking a train straight to salzburg was pretty much too good to be true (and she brought me american vanity fair! also too good to be true).
so....is anyone flying into munich in the near future? i can probably pick you up there, if you want.
I don't know if it's normal to have a favorite...but I think it's awesome, more people should. I always loved Heathrow, I pretend I'm in Love Actually :)
I think it's normal to have a favourite airport...if you've been to more than a couple. I have categories of favourites..e.g. for atmosphere it has to be Stockholm. it has low lighting of different colours and everything is made out of wood.. totally relaxing and great! and... even though it is kind of horrible i love JFK because whenever I'm there it means I'm back in the States! woo. and the winner of worst airport probably goes to Gatwick. not only is it just depressing and awful but I also associate it with having food poisoning. Wow, I wrote a lot and you didn't even ask to hear anyones airport preferences! :)
Absolutely normal!! In Europe, hmm, really DONT like any of the London ones. But the German ones I have been too are pretty do-able. I think they have this organization thing done. Have never checked out the Oklahoma City one, maybe will have to give that a try one day ;)
I think it's normal to have a favourite airport. Mine is Changi airport, Singapore ^^ And Heathrow too! I do not have a least favourite as of yet though. Anyway, I do hope you are having (or had?) fun with your friend!
I am totally with you on the Munich airport favorite... I love this airport as well. It has always been the beginning of the best adventures ever. Specially the beginning of the best year of my life with the most special people. And it hasn't disappointed ever since. =) Stuttgart airport is a close second favorite though... oh and not to forget Newark International =) Lots of happy "saying hello moments" (and sad "saying goodbye" moments) there.
what about the homer airport?
I definitely have a favorite airport! :) and some not so favorite ones..
If I'm ever flying through Munich, I'm most certainly calling you :)
I WISH I needed to fly into Munich! Haha! If only... I love that you have a favorite airport. haha! And I am so the same with sticking with what I know. I should be more adventurous sometimes.
Well, I LOVE airports, in general! And I live near Munich, so call me a lucky gal! I love our airport...my next travel will be in May, to Greece, so I am pretty excited too! :))))
Have a great weekend!
um....... i really wat to know which airport is your LEAST favorite!
I like the OKC airport and the Munich one. But not the Chicago one, huh?
P.S. I love the Homer airport!!
lol I have my favorites.... and least favorites (Philly and Barcelona) So it is totally normal :) lol I had a connection in the Munich airport on my way home from studying abroad. We got stuck in this tiny area for 10 hours because our plane was broken and needed a part from Frankfurt. It looked like a pretty cool place from what I could see outside of the glass walls they kept us behind.
I recognize the interior of the train to Salzburg!!
east midlands airport is my favorite...hands down. (the one you will be flying into) it is small, quick, always empty and the people that work there are seriously the nicest people ever.
not my favorite? berlin.
You are too cute. I guess I don't have a favorite airport, but I definitely like some a lot less than others!
I always order the same thing at restaurants too. Why deviate, when you know what will make you happy? Ha! :)
Singapore Changi airport is my pick as favourite! I LOVE having my stop-over there when I'm Europe bound. Although the feeling I get when I touch down in Frankfurt is unforgettable. I feel like I've come 'home' every time.
I also love the Munich airport! There is this really nice lady in Starbucks. I always find something to buy in Accessorize and inside the airport you can so easily get manicures, pedicures and a massage :) I also ate there once a very good pasta....
The people who work at the Munich airport are so friendly. I had to deal with some policemen due to not having a certain stamp I needed in my passport [I blame the Italians for this], and they were so fun. Plus, I bought a Longchamp purse [that I have used to the point of visible ruin] in the duty free area.
no. but that would be super cool. Id bring you frosting from a can too :)
