the white castle = schloss neuschwanstein
the orangey castle = schloss hohenschwangau
it’s easy to see where disney got the inspiration, isn’t it?
and this concludes your weekly instagram overload.
for the record, if you’re going to visit one (or both) of these castles,
i recommend paying the 8 euros for the carriage ride up the mountain.
(walking down the mountain isn’t too treacherous a feat, but the walk up, however, is killer.)
and while you’re up on that mountaintop, buy yourself a 10 euro giant pretzel, why don’t you!
Oh. My. Word.
Did I mention I have a weakness for castles? (hence why I'm getting married in one...). Those views! And the promise of a giant pretzel! I'm not quite sure which is more enticing but with that combination you can't go wrong :)
Don't you think it would be beautiful in winter, too?
This is absolutely stunning!
I 'almost' forgot how breathtaking Germany really is. Just out of curiosity, have you ventured to the Bonn/Konigswinter region? I was born and lived there for six years, and the Schloss Drachenburg is a-mazing!
Are they located in the same region? Oh, I've always wanted to see Neuschwanstein! Is the carriage 8€ per person or per carriage?
oh my gosh, i love castles. like, why did everyone just let castles go when coming to america?
I need to visit here. Desperately. It's so gorgeous.
Oh wow. I think I never had a 10 Euro bretzel. :)
@Anait, I've only seen it in spring and summer but have always wanted to go in winter. I think it would look awesome covered in the snow.
@Ages, I've never been to that region. I've flown out of Bonn airport, but...I don't think that counts. ;)
@Bivisyani Questibrilia, The two castles are more or less right next to each other. A lot of people only visit Neuschwanstein, though, as it is the more famous of the two.
P.S.
@Bivisyani Questibrilia, It is 8 per person. The carriage seats about a dozen people so you all ride up in a group.
gosh, you make me love germany even more than my dorky 17 year old (german student of the year 2009, what what!) self did. beautiful.
I saw Neuschwanstein a few years ago and was IN LOVE. All the hiking was worth it (even though it rained and ruined my shoes) and I am dying to go back someday!
Um...yes, please. PLEASE!!!!
Oh my goodness! This is my dream!!!! It looks like Germany is the place to go for castles!

The Mrs. and The Momma
Such a magical place!! Also, I have photos from my trip that pretty much look identical to these. Clearly, great minds think alike.
nice photo honey, i love itt
xx
that walk up is totally a KILLER!
Wow! So pretty there! I've never been to a castle... Definitely something on my bucket list! :)
Hey, how long are you in Germany for? I kinda want to hang out, like alotalotalot.
So magical. Take me back now.
Hallo Jenni!
ich bin neulich über Deinen interessanten Blog via "a little piece of me" gestolpert :)
Duni
